E46 series BMW 3

1 Remove a head restraint, address to appropriate section.
2 Displace a forward seat completely forward and up.

3 Unscrew a bolt of fastening-2-and remove a seat belt-1-.

4 Unscrew two back bolts of fastening-3-.

5 Displace a seat completely back.

6 Seat of the forward passenger: Remove the first-aid kit of first aid-4-. For this purpose raise a screw-driver of a bracket-5-at the left and on the right. Press the first-aid kit in front down and take out.

7 Disconnect a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At BMW 316i, 318i cars the battery settles down in an impellent compartment.

As a result of shutdown of the storage battery data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors are erased. If necessary before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to consider these memories of malfunctions. Address to the Section Diagnostics of malfunctions. Work it is desirable to lead HUNDRED in conditions.

8 Observe security measures at the address with a natyazhitel of a belt and a safety cushion, address to the Section Steering with the hydraulic booster (servoupravleniye).

9 Rasstykuytes shtekerny-6-connection in front under a seat, previously having taken out sideways the holder-7-.

10 Unscrew nuts-8-and remove with spring washers. Previously remove covers if they are available.

11 Remove a channel with protective covers and carefully take out a forward seat.

12 Carefully establish a seat and expose it so that openings coincided.

The rug should not be in the area of fastening by bolts between tires of a seat and the bottom, otherwise at movement there can be a noise.

13 Fix a seat in front new nuts and tighten them the moment of 55 N • m.
14 Join the socket under a seat, insert the holder and thus fix the tip.
15 Seat of the forward passenger: Insert the first-aid kit of first aid by back pins in directing on a seat, press in front up and fix in brackets.
16 Attach a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.
17 Displace a seat completely forward.
18 Fix two new bolts of fastening behind the moment of 55 N • m.
19 Fix a seat belt outside the moment of 48 N • m.
20 Establish a head restraint, address to appropriate section.
21 Establish hours.

Specially at damage of electric adjustment of longitudinal provision of a seat:

22 Incline a seat the mechanism of adjustment of an inclination up.
23 Turn out two bolts of fastening of a drive of adjustment of longitudinal provision of a seat and remove a drive.
24 Turn on the switch of the mechanism of longitudinal adjustment.

- The mechanism does not work: Put a new drive and include it. If now the mechanism works, the reducer is serviceable, replace only the electric motor.
- The electric motor works, the seat does not move: The reducer of moving of a seat is faulty, replace it.

25 Rasstykuytes I will corrode the mechanism of longitudinal adjustment of a seat.
26 Unscrew two bolts of fastening of the tire of a seat in front and overturn a seat back.
27 Cut off the big tool for cutting of bolts a connecting shaft.
28 Turn out two bolts of fastening and remove a reducer at the left and on the right. Then the seat can be shifted manually.
29 For removal of a seat fix tires in front at a frame.
30 Remove a seat and replace tires.
