Check and replacement of brushes of a generator / regulator of tension

 REMOVAL

1 Disconnect a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At BMW 316i, 318i cars the battery settles down in an impellent compartment.

As a result of shutdown of the storage battery data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors are erased. If necessary before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to consider these memories of malfunctions. Address to the Section Diagnostics of malfunctions. Work it is desirable to lead HUNDRED in conditions.

Bosch generator

2 Remove maple a belt-1-and the generator-2-, address to appropriate section.

3 Unscrew three screws of fastening-6-and remove a protective cover-5-.
4 Unscrew two screws of fastening-4-regulators of tension-3-on a back cover of the generator and carefully take out it.

5 Replace on a regulator of tension of-1-brushes-2-if their length makes 5 mm and less. For this purpose отпаяйте ropes.

6 Check wear of contact rings. If necessary process them and polish.
7 Clear contact surfaces and check rigidity of contact springs, if necessary replace them.


 INSTALLATION

8 Insert brushes - And - and springs - In - in a shchetkoderzhatel - With-. Solder ropes.

9 to exclude solder hit on ropes of brushes, hold ropes flat-nose pliers.

As a result of solder hit on ropes the last become is inadmissible rigid and unsuitable for installation.

10 Near a place of the soldering of a rope the insulating tube should be fixed.
11 After installation of new brushes it is necessary to check ease of their course in a shchetkoderzhatel.
12 Fix a tension regulator at first manually, and then carefully press in final situation and fix.
13 Fix a protective casing behind the generator.
14 Establish the generator, address to appropriate section.


VALEO generator

 REMOVAL

15 Remove the generator.
16 Unscrew three screws of fastening and remove a protective cover of the generator.
17 Unscrew two screws of fastening and one nut and take out a tension regulator.


 INSTALLATION

18 Establish into place a new regulator of tension with an assembly cover and slightly fix it.
19 Remove an assembly cover up.
20 Fix a protective cover.
21 Establish the generator.
