Removal and installation of the sensor of oxygen

At the BMW car of the 3rd series sensors of oxygen are located before and after the catalytic converter to provide control of purity of the fulfilled gases.

Connecting cables of sensors of oxygen are not under repair and are not soldered. In the presence of damages the cable is replaced in a set.


 REMOVAL

Operation of lifting and car installation on supports is connected with danger! Therefore before carrying out operation familiarize with Poddomkrachivaniye's Section and towage

1 Lift and establish the car on supports.
2 Models 316i, 318i: Rasstykuyte I will corrode - 3-sensors of oxygen and turn out the sensor-4-of a reception pipe.

3 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Rasstykuyte shtekerny connections of sensors of oxygen (two arrows on the right on an illustration).

Mark tips not to mix them at assembly. Uncover the engine to open tips, address to the Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.

4 Disconnect the holder of a cable (the left arrow). Turn out oxygen sensors from a reception pipe. The cap key, for example, HAZET 468/4 is for this purpose necessary.


 INSTALLATION

Do not clear the oxygen sensor around top and do not allow contact to greasing. When drawing sheeting on the bottom sensors close.

5 Cover a carving of the sensor of oxygen with special high-temperature Nevar seez Compound greasing.

If the sensor of oxygen is rolled without high-temperature greasing, the carving burns over time and the sensor cannot be turned out. New sensors have the corresponding covering.

6 Screw the oxygen sensor in a reception pipe and tighten the moment of 55 N • m.
7 Lay an electric wire so that it did not fray and did not concern release system.
8 Establish an engine cover.
