E46 series BMW 3

1 Disconnect a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At BMW 316i, 318i cars the battery settles down in an impellent compartment.

As a result of shutdown of the storage battery data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors are erased. If necessary before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to consider these memories of malfunctions. Address to the Section Diagnostics of malfunctions. Work it is desirable to lead HUNDRED in conditions.

2 Models 316i, 318i: Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove ignition coils from holders, having taken them aside that at removal of RKPP not to damage ignition cables.
3 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Remove the fan with the holder from a radiator and displace a little upward, address to the Section Removal and installation of a fan / casing of the fan.
4 Models 320d, 320i, 323i, 328i: Remove an airmodular box, address to the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.

Lifting and car installation on supports are dangerous! Therefore previously familiarize with Poddomkrachivaniye's Section and towage

5 Remove the bottom cover of an impellent compartment, address to the Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
6 Remove the amplifier of a forward part of the car, address to the Section Removal and installation of a beam of a forward suspension bracket.
7 Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove a reception pipe from a final collector, address to the Section Removal and installation of system of release.
8 Disconnect the thermofilter of system of release around RKPP from the car bottom.

9 Disconnect a flange of the kardanny hinge from RKPP (an arrow on an illustration). Not to draw a flange, at an otvorachivaniye rotate only nuts, instead of bolts.

10 Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove the central bearing of the driveshaft (an arrow on an illustration). Thus hold a shaft that it did not fall.

11 Remove the driveshaft from RKPP flange.

Adhere a shaft a wire sideways to the bottom. At removal of the working cylinder of a drive of coupling slowly unload a rod, otherwise through consolidation air will get. Suspend the cylinder with the attached hose on a wire to a body. If air gets to hydrosystem, after installation it is necessary to remove air from system.

12 Remove the working cylinder, address to the Section Removal and installation of the working cylinder of coupling.

13 Raise a few RKPP the garage lift and prop up it.

14 Unscrew bolts of fastening and disconnect a cross-piece at the bottom and RKPP.
15 Slowly lower RKPP the garage lift so that the engine almost concerned a wall of an impellent compartment.

Do not lower it too low not to damage.

16 Prop up the engine in front the second lift that it after removal of RKPP could not overturn.

17 Remove lock brackets-4-on draft of switching from RKPP and the switching lever. Remove washers of-5-drafts of switching, remove draft. At installation keep in mind that the big surface of washers-5-adjoins to draft of switching of a box.

18 Take away upward a screw-driver a clamp of a basic finger of draft of switching on a box. A finger take out sideways.

19 Rasstykuytes I will corrode the backing switch on a box. Release a cable of lamps of a backing and the oxygen sensor from holders on a box.

Automatic transmission

20 Remove the fan with the holder from a radiator and pull up a little. Remove an airmodular box, address to the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
21 Remove a cable of the selector of gear shifting on a box, address to the Section Adjustment of draft of the selector.
22 Rasstykuytes I will corrode on a box for what turn a nut at the tip to the left.
23 Disconnect the holder at the case pallet for oil pipelines of a radiator of AT.

24 Disconnect from a box the holder of an oil pipeline of a radiator (the shooter on an illustration), take out oil pipelines. Substitute capacity for collecting following oil. Do not allow dirt hit in pipelines therefore close them plastic packages with elastic bands.

25 Uncover openings-1-at a karterny part of the block of cylinders. Turn out consistently 3 bolts of fastening of the converter of a torque by means of a narrow head, for example, BMW 24 1 110 or any similar tool. Watch that bolts did not fall in a case. That bolts appeared in a groove, turn the engine for a shestigrannik of a pulley of a cranked shaft.

26 Prop up a box the lift from below the car. It is possible to lean only around a box case, instead of the case pallet.
27 Unscrew bolts of fastening of a box to the engine. The arrangement of bolts of a flange corresponds to an arrangement of bolts of fastening of a box.

28 Watch that the converter did not slip out. For this purpose put a clip - 1-at a box case the flat party to the converter and clamp. If it is impossible to put the specified clip, at removal of a box watch that the converter did not slip out a box. Disconnect a box from the engine.

29 Turn out Torx screws of fastening of a flange of a box (an arrow on an illustration). Screws have the various sizes. Write down their arrangement.

Remove back a box from directing plugs and primary shaft and take out it by means of the assistant.

At removal and installation of a box do not allow, that it hung on primary to a shaft as it can lead to damage of a conducted disk of coupling. Extend a box back as far as it is possible, turn approximately on a corner 10 ° counter-clockwise and remove.

31 Before installation check coupling, address to the Section Removal and coupling installation.
32 Check ease of a course of the bearing of switching off of coupling. Grease adjacent surfaces of the lever of switching off with ESSO UNIREX S2 greasing.

check greasing in grooves of shliyets of primary shaft. If greasing sticky, it is necessary to replace a conducted disk of coupling, address to the Section Removal and coupling installation.

33 Erase a rag greasing from shliyets of primary shaft. Then apply a thin film ESSO UNIREX S2 greasings. Do not put too much greasing as it can get on frictional surfaces and lead to refusals of operation of coupling. The necessary amount of greasing corresponds to the size of grain of fig.

34 Include the lever transfer.

35 Be convinced that both directing plugs-1-and-2 - between the engine and a box are at a stop. Raise a box and enter it horizontally into coupling. If at installation the shaft of a box does not enter into a conducted disk of coupling, turn a hand a shaft behind for a driveshaft flange.

36 Screw bolts of fastening of a flange with washers. The moments of a tightening are given in Specifications.
37 Grease a basic finger of draft of switching with KLUBER POLYLUB GLY 801 greasing and insert. Lower down a finger clamp.

38 Put washers on a finger, observing the correct situation. The big surface of washers-5-adjoins to draft of switching. Establish draft on the lever of gear shifting and the lever of a box and fix lock brackets.

39 Join the socket of the switch of a backing and fix it. Lay a cable of lamps of a backing and the oxygen sensor in holders on a box.
40 Establish the working cylinder of a drive of coupling, address to the Section Removal and installation of the working cylinder of coupling.

Automatic transmission

41 Turn the torque converter on a box so that openings on levels showed to the center of openings on a flywheel. Screw the BMW 24 2 300 adaptation in a level.

42 At engine and box interface three levels of fastening on the converter should coincide with three ledges on an engine flywheel. The subsequent change of situation is impossible and can lead to damages.

43 Put an automatic box and carefully insert the adaptation 24 2 300 into an opening on a conducted disk. After fixing of a box take out the adaptation forward from a level (the shooter on an illustration).

44 Remove a clip from a case of a box and screw three bolts of fastening of the converter of the moment in box openings. Tighten bolts the moment of 45 N • m. Apply only original bolts.

45 Remove a protective film and connect oil pipelines to a box, having fixed in the holder. Replace sealing laying.
46 Fix holders of oil pipelines on the case pallet.
47 Join the socket on a box, it should be fixed.
48 Establish the selector and adjust it, address to the Section Adjustment of draft of the selector.
49 Raise a box a jack and fix a beam on the bottom and a box efforts specified in Specifications.
50 Clean a jack.
51 Fix the driveshaft new being self-stopped nuts to a box flange. The moment of an inhaling of carving connections depends on a class of durability of bolts which is beaten out on a bolt head (address to Specifications).
52 Tighten bolts of fastening of the central bearing of the driveshaft the moment of 20 N • m.
53 Slightly tighten the moment of 10 N • m a screw ring on a mobile element of the driveshaft.
54 Fix on the bottom the heat-shielding screen. Establish release system, address to the Section Removal and installation of system of release.
55 Fill AT with oil, address to the Section Check oil level/replacement in a reducer of the back bridge.
56 Establish the amplifier of a forward part, address to the Section Removal and installation of a beam of a forward suspension bracket.
57 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Fix on a radiator the fan with the holder, address to the Section Removal and installation of a fan / casing of the fan.
58 Models 320d, 320i, 323i, 328i: Establish an airmodular box, address to the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
59 Fix the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
60 Models 316i, 318i: Fix on the holder of the coil of ignition.
61 Attach a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.
