Removal and installation of a control panel

If it is necessary to replace a control panel, before dismantling should take readings memory of malfunctions. Besides, consider and write down data of the index of intervals of service and the counter of the passable way (HUNDRED).

 REMOVAL

To remove a steering wheel it is not required. On illustrations the steering wheel is removed for the best review.

1 Completely extend a steering wheel and move it down.
2 Disconnect a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At BMW 316i, 318i cars the battery settles down in an impellent compartment.

As a result of shutdown of the storage battery data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors are erased. If necessary before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to consider these memories of malfunctions. Address to the Section Diagnostics of malfunctions. Work it is desirable to lead HUNDRED in conditions.

3 Turn out screws-1-and take away a control panel.

4 Release the tip-2-and remove it. For this purpose open a collar-3-and take away from a cable.


 INSTALLATION

5 Join the socket and fix it a collar. Watch that the collar was fixed.
6 Insert a control panel into an aperture and fix screws.
7 Attach a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.
8 Establish a steering column in normal situation.
